My name is Garrett Johnson and I have owned Marina Del Rey since 2016. In addition to the Marina, since 2017 my wife and I have purchased multiple lakefront properties in the Caney-Soldier Creek area. I am proud to be a property owner at Texoma and love to share the homes with my family and friends. I also own approximately 50+ acres of additional property in the Marina vicinity. The Marina is near and dear to my heart as I have been going to the area since I was 5 years old. I have had the great fortune of meeting many of you and have made many new friends since 2016.
Maximizing property value is in my best interests and is something that I focus on as I construct improvements in the area. I have invested millions of dollars in improvements to the Marina and surrounding area since there purchase. Some may remember that back in 2016, the Barbay area was just a goat pen with a dilapidated double wide trailer on it. Since purchasing these properties, appraisals have been done confirming sometimes up to a 500% increase in the value of the property. There is no question that some of this increase in value is a result of the improvements that have been made to the Marina and its surrounding area.
As many of you know, the area was hit hard by storm which caused significant damage to the Marina itself. Since that storm, I have been involved in a dispute over insurance coverage for the resulting damage. I have engaged a Public Appraiser and am going through the insurance claim dispute process. This is a multi-million dollar claim and as most people know, dealing with insurance companies is never easy or quick.
Nevertheless, over a million dollars has been incurred to date focused on mitigating the losses from the damage done by the storm. I can promise you that no one is more focused on getting the Marina back to where it was or even potentially better. As a fellow property owner, I want this area to continue to prosper so that we can all enjoy this beautiful lake that we have all grown to love.
